چکیده
PurposeLeft ventricular assist device (LVAD) improves 5-year survival and quality of life in advanced heart failure patients. However, feasibility long-term outcomes developing countries are unknown. We evaluate the actuarial adverse events rate a cohort patients implanted largest MCS program Colombia, South AmericaMethodsAll adult who received durable LVAD at Fundación Cardiovascular de Colombia (FCV), Floridablanca, from 2014 to 2022 were included. Actuarial survival, early late neurologic dysfunction, related infection pump thrombosis calculated.ResultsTwenty-seven included (Median age: 52 years; 54% females). The most frequent etiology HF was ischemic cardiomyopathy (24%), followed by hypertensive valvular diseases (16% 12%, respectively). Eight had HeartMate II implanted, 18 Heartmate III, only one HVAD implanted. median duration support 35 months (1.3 - 95 months); 6-month, 1-, 2-, 3- 4-year rates 88%, 84%, 78%, 65%, respectively. Early (less than three months) per 100 patient-month were: 0 0.82;, stroke 2.65 0.62; 0.31 (All occurred HM II) After eight years 5 have been transplanted, 7 died 15 active on supportConclusionThe use for with end-stage country is associated longterm profiles that comparable reported large Registries. Left America All calculated. Twenty-seven

Implantation of the permanent Jarvik-2000 left ventricular assist device: a single-center experience.
OBJECTIVES We sought to evaluate the surgical results and effects of continuous support with the permanent Jarvik-2000 left ventricular assist device (LVAD). We report the early outcomes. BACKGROUND A shortage of transplant donors necessitates the testing of alternative treatments. The Jarvik-2000 is an axial flow pump with a percutaneous retro-auricular power connector, designed for permanen...
متن کاملInitial experience with off-pump left ventricular assist device implantation in single center: retrospective analysis
BACKGROUND We hypothesize that implantation of left ventricular assist device through off-pump technique is feasible and has a comparable result to implantation on cardiopulmonary bypass and could improve one-year survival. METHODS This retrospective, observational, single-center study was conducted on 29 consecutive patients at our institution who underwent off-pump left ventricular assist d...
متن کاملSurgical Treatment of Advanced Heart Failure- Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation and Adjuvant Tricuspid Valve Repair
Cardiac transplantation is the treatment of choice in patients with end-stage heart failure. Insufficient number of donors in all health systems resulted in the need for intensive development of devices for mechanical circulatory support. Right ventricular failure (RVF) combined with major tricuspid insufficiency among the group of patients who are candidates for the left ventricular assist dev...
متن کاملImprovement of Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) in Artificial Heart Using Particle Swarm Optimization
In this approach, the Left ventricular assist pump for patients with left ventricular failure isused. The failure of the left ventricle is the most common heart disease during these days. Inthis article, a State feedback controller method is used to optimize the efficiency of a samplingpump current. Particle Swarm Algorithm, which is a set of rules to update the position andvelocity, is applied...
متن کاملRight ventricular hypertrabeculation due to right heart failure after left ventricular assist device implantation.
DESCRIPTION Hypertrabeculation/non-compaction of ventricular myocardium (HVM/NVM) is a cardiomyopathy thought to be caused by arrest of normal embryogenesis of the endocardium and myocardium between the fetal 5th and 8th weeks, resulting in persistence of multiple prominent ventricular trabeculations with deep intertrabecular recesses. The myocardium of the left ventricle is most often affected...
